Gynecologist Alexandra Lapurenko has urged women never to urinate while hovering over the toilet, warning that the position causes health problems.
Lapurenko, an expert in pelvic floor dysfunction, issued the warning on her Instagram account, which is owned by Meta, an organization designated as extremist and banned in Russia. She stated that hovering over a toilet bowl, often called the eagle pose, increases intra-abdominal pressure and prevents the pelvic floor muscles and urethral sphincter from fully relaxing. As a result, some urine remains trapped in the bladder.
Regularly urinating in this position leads to cystitis, bladder emptying disorders, and weakened pelvic floor muscles, Lapurenko warned. To avoid these issues and protect pelvic organ health, she advised women to sit completely on the toilet seat whenever possible and to use disposable hygienic seat covers in public restrooms.
Menstrual cycle awareness
In a separate report, gynecologist-surgeon Yana Radutinskikh noted that many men misunderstand ovulation and confuse it with an illness. Radutinskikh explained that ovulation is simply the phase of the menstrual cycle when a woman is most fertile.
