A Memphis news anchor stunned viewers after she appeared to fall asleep during a live broadcast on Wednesday morning.
Dominique Dillon, an anchor for Fox 13 in Memphis, was seen with her eyes closed and her hands around her neck as the camera cut to her from a colleague’s report. An Instagram user posted the clip, writing that Dillon had been caught sleeping on camera during Good Morning Memphis.
After the video went viral, her colleague Ernie Freeman posted a joking selfie to Facebook showing Dillon smiling with her eyes closed and her head resting on her hands. Freeman captioned the post: “Now that ‘The Big Show’ is over, it’s time for Dominique Dillon to catch another nap,” adding the hashtag StayWoke.
Dillon shared the image to her own Facebook, writing that no one could give her a nudge, though she said colleague Brittani Dubose had her back.
Social media users rallied to Dillon’s defense, pointing out she recently had a baby girl and only returned to work in April. One commenter wrote that morning shifts are challenging and urged others to give her grace and support. Others noted she is a mother of two young children while also doing full reporting duties in Memphis.
Dillon was recently promoted to anchor the channel’s weekend newscasts while also reporting midweek, according to the New York Post. She joined Fox 13 in 2019 after previously working for KTAL in Texarkana, Texas.
