Rail company European Sleeper has announced a night train route connecting Brussels and Amsterdam to Copenhagen and Malmo, scheduled for launch in spring 2028.
The joint Belgian and Dutch cooperative is launching the Scandinavian initiative alongside German rail operator RDC to expand its growing sleeper network across Europe.
Under the initial schedule, trains will depart from both Brussels and Malmo starting from 19:00, arriving at their final destination at 10:00 the following morning. Passengers will also be able to connect to cities including London, Paris, Stockholm and Oslo with one additional transfer along the route.
The trains will feature standard European overnight rail options, including seating, couchettes and sleeping compartments. European Sleeper is also considering luxury options that include double beds and private bathrooms.
Route Details and Network Expansion
European Sleeper was established as a cooperative by Belgian and Dutch founders to revive overnight passenger rail travel across the continent. Its operating partner, German company RDC, provides rolling stock and technical support for cross border routes.
The new line will add to existing routes operated by the company, which currently runs overnight trains from Brussels to Prague and from Paris to Berlin. A third route connecting Brussels to Milan is scheduled to begin operating on September 9, running three days a week on a 17.5 hour journey with stops in Cologne and Zurich.
Company officials have also hinted at plans for a future night train route connecting Brussels to Barcelona as part of its long term expansion.
Estimated Fares and Ticket Prices
Ticket prices for the upcoming Scandinavian service have not yet been released by European Sleeper. However, existing prices on the operator route between Paris and Berlin provide a reference for expected fares.
On that route, single tickets in a shared compartment start at approximately 79 euros per person. Seats in a comfort compartment on the same line begin at 116 euros per person.
Exact ticket costs and full timetable details for the Scandinavian service are expected to be published ahead of the scheduled 2028 launch.
