Several reports have surfaced about another Batman project that was in the works at Warner Bros. before James Gunn And Peter Safran they were hired to lead the charge at DC Studios. This was live action Batman Beyond project, he would see Michael Keaton again as Bruce Wayne.
Christina Hodson (Flash, Bird of Prey, Bumblebee, Batgirl) was writing the screenplay. When Hodson pitched his performance to studio executives, they were thrilled and excited and pushed her into script development. But, after Gunn and Safran were hired, she was told to stop writing.
According to THR, the story was also rumored to also feature a romance between Batman and Catwoman and Michelle Pfeiffer could reprise her role, which would have been great!
As of right now, there’s no movement on the project, but Gunn and Safran may be pursuing it again…if it fits into their grand DC Cinematic Universe plans.
There have been years of fan discussions about Keaton reprising his role as Bruce Wayne in a Batman Beyond movie! He’s a smart move and the fans would flip it! We’ll just have to wait and see if Gunn and Safran want to do it. I hope they do! What do you think?
