These days, James Cameron has been very busy with the early theatrical release of ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’, and it doesn’t look like his work rate will slow down in the coming years, since he has several installments in the franchise of front. In a recent interview for ComicBook, James Cameron proposed the possibility of making a Marvel or DC Comics movie, having finished with the “Avatar” franchise for Disney. The director began by talking about his love for Spider-Man, not just versions of Tobey Maguire or Tom Holland, but the comic book character.

However, things haven’t looked to be very loose for the director since then James Cameron commented, “I just want to say up front, I have no intention of bringing Marvel or the DC Universe into disrepute”, denying any possibility of seeing him in any of the cinematic universes of the moment. “I have no interest in directing a comic film,” concluded the ‘Avatar’ director.

Unfortunately the franchise of ‘Avatars’ will keep James Cameron busy for years to come, and while he’d love to be behind any of the future DCEU and MCU projects, his schedule is so tight that he’s been discussing abandoning the next few Na’vi films if he doesn’t have time to complete his story. to another director.

James Cameron and his love for Spider-Man

Before Sam Raimi started his ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy with Tobey Maguire, James Cameron had planned a version of Spider-Man with Leonardo DiCaprio as Peter Parker. In this regard, the director recalled his love for the arachnid: “I was interested in Spider-Man, but that was something unique. A personal love for Spider-Man. But that ground has been served very well by other people.”

“I just finished the script for Avatar 5. Now I’m starting the active preparation process. I’ll be working with the actors on the capture volume in August, so I’m busy producing every day from now on,” he said of his future work. “My focus is not on Avatar 2. My focus is on Avatar 2, 3 , 4 and 5 in the same way.

For now, James Cameron prepares the release of ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’, starring Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement and Kate Winslet , next December 15, 2023.
