For some years now, Netflix has been betting heavily on series based on video games and although they have had some questionable titles, in the vast majority of cases it is quite remarkable that the work and care that goes into them is far superior to the movies. That’s why, with a very high bar, these are the best programs that every gamer shouldn’t miss.
What started out as a small mod soon grew into one of the best-known titles, and one of the first to make a big step into eSports, ‘League of Legends’. Netflix took this universe to create “Arcane”, one of The best series based on video games, not just from its catalog, but from the medium in general. He is about two sisters fighting on opposite sides in a war of technology and magic.
The sorcerer
One of the first global phenomena to be one of series based on Netflix video games which was a hit on the platform was ‘The Witcher’. The story is based on the game of the same name, which itself is an adaptation of the novels by Andrzej Sapkowski. This is the story of Geralt de Rivia, a sorcerer who lives on orders to kill monsters or any threat.
Minecraft
Those responsible for adapting “The Walking Dead” to the video game, Telltale Games, have done the same, but taking the story of ‘Minecraft’ to Netflix. The result was a graphic adventure in which subscribers could make the decision of the protagonist themselves and lead the plot where they wanted, combining the best of both worlds.

Carmen Sandiego
One of the most important Spanish video games in the sector has been “Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?”, an educational video game that has made it possible to solve crimes all over the world. Netflix has relaunched the franchise, with ‘Carmen Sandiego’, an animated series for children in which Carmen now stars in four seasons of this successful title.
castlevania
One that many have been waiting for its mention is ‘Castlevania’ which is based on Konami video games, and whose story started about 35 long years ago in the arcade games of Nintendo. But the Netflix series only takes up the plot of the third chapter of the saga, “Dracula’s Curse”, in which Trevor Belmont, a vampire hunter, is looking for Alucard, son of the greatest vampire of all time.
Dota: Dragon Blood
In the same style as “League of Legends”, “Dota: Dragonborn” is based on the MOBA video game that has been very popular since the days of “Warcraft III”. But it has little or almost nothing to do with its source material, as it only takes the character of Davion, a dragon knight, and Mirana, his mate, on an adventure in search of magical artifacts.
