in one of best drama adventure movies, we have ‘Into the Wild’, released in 2007, directed by Sean Penn, and starring Emile Hirsch. It is based on the true story of Christopher McCandless, a boy who, after graduating from college, decides to leave everything behind and embark on a journey across the United States until he reaches Alaska. Released in 2016 and directed by Matt Ross, this adventure film went unnoticed upon its release, but has been vindicated over the years. Starring Viggo Mortensen and George McKay, the film follows a father of six, who has raised in the woods, outside of socially accepted ideologies, until they have outgrown and want to discover the world for themselves. Since 2014 we have the drama and adventure film of ‘wild’, directed by the late Jean-Marc Vallée and starring Reese Witherspoon. She concerns Cheryl, who recently suffered a divorce and the death of her mother, and now decides to hike 1,000 miles to the Pacific on her own. Available on Star+.
nomadic land
With the same philosophy as ‘Captain Fantastic’, but a cruder and more realistic portrait of what is happening in the United States, we have ‘Nomadland’, by director Chloé Zhao, from 2020. It is about a woman played by Frances McDormand, who , after being fired from her job, is now dedicated to traveling the country in her truck, meeting new people with the same life. Finally, one of Alfonso Cuarón’s masterpieces, ‘Y tu mamá también’, with Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna, together with Maribel Verdú and Ana López Mercado. It tells of two friends who meet Luisa at a party, a girl married to their cousin, and decide to run away with them on an aimless journey.
