Quentin Tarantino he’s talking about the Marvel movies again, and this time he’s talking about how there are no more movie stars because of the “wonder of Hollywood”. Talking about this, he says that the actors who play in these Marvel films are not movie stars. During the 2 Bears 1 Cave podcast, she explained:
“You have all these actors who have become famous playing these characters. But they’re not movie stars. Right? Captain America is the star. Or Thor is the star. I mean, I’m not the first person to say this. I think it’s been said an infinite number of times… but it’s like, you know, these characters in the franchise become a star.”
Yes, you are absolutely right. She goes on to whine a bit about the Marvel movies, saying:
“My only ax against them is that they’re the only things that seem to get done. And they’re the only things that seem to generate any kind of excitement among the fans or even for the studio that makes them. That’s what they’re excited about. And so it’s just the fact that they’re the whole representation of this era of movies right now. There really isn’t much room for anything else. That’s my problem.
You know what, though? I think the excitement is slowly dying. As someone who has been deep in this fandom space for a long time and has lived in the rise of the Marvel movies, I’m noticing that the excitement isn’t quite as hardcore as it was before Avengers: Finale.
While I enjoy watching Marvel movies, the market has become oversaturated and their projects are no longer as good as they once were. Now I’m a factory putting out one film and one TV series after another, and I think the care, attention to detail and even a little heart has gone into this. I’m not the only one who feels this way.
What do you think of what Tarantino has said here about Marvel? The director previously said he wouldn’t direct a Marvel movie because he’s not a mercenary. But if he made a movie, he would be The sergeant. Fury and his Howling Commandos.
