“Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration” will star HER and Josh Groban as the new Beauty and the Beast. We already have a first image of the two artists wearing a much more modern look than the two previous Disney versions., because this special wants to be a tribute to the animated classic and not so much a live remake. The manifesto, in fact, sells it like this: “Part animated film, part live entertainment, 100% Disney magic”.

The special features Hamish Hamilton, formerly responsible for the live version of ‘The Little Mermaid’, as director and Jon M. Chu (‘In a New York district’) as executive producer. It will be a two-hour taped event in front of an audience at the Disney studios where scenes from the 1991 film will be interspersed with live performances..

The cast is full of stars. Martin Short will play Lumiere, David Alan Grier will voice Dindón and Shania Twain will play Mrs. Potts herself. Joshua Henry (Gastón), Rizwan Manji (LeFou), Jon Jon Briones (Maurice) and Leo Abelo Perry (Chip) complete the cast, whose icing on the cake will be Rita Moreno as narrator.

‘Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration’ will air on ABC on December 15 and on the 16th will be available on Disney+ in the US. At the moment we do not know if that day will also arrive on Disney + Spain, but for example the special of ‘The Little Mermaid’ with Auli’i Cravalho as Ariel and Queen Latifah as Úrsula is available in the platform’s catalogue.
