SCHITT’S CREEK LOVES TRAVEL PARTY GAME It’s perfect for fans

I was recently sent a copy of Schitt’s Creek Love That Journey Party Game from the good people at Funko. Overall, the quality of the game is really good, the game board is sturdy, the player tokens don’t flake after a match, and the cards are nice and sturdy. The game is great for fans of The Schitt covebut if you only have a vague knowledge of it, this game won’t be much fun for you.

The game itself is very simple to play. Travel across the board that feature Schitt’s Creek city landmarks by answering one of two types of questions. There are questions asking you which character would make a suggestion and others asking what you would do under certain circumstances. You choose your answer, then the other players try to guess what you said. If they do it right, they advance one space, and if more than half of them do it right, you advance too. It’s not just about knowing the people you play with, but also knowing what your friends think of each of the characters on the show. You can also play a pink token if you are sure of your answer to advance two spaces with a correct answer. The pink token can only be used twice per game, so you should be very confident as asking which character would you go for fashion advice? Moira or Bob? The cards that determine the matches include pictures of the characters in case you need the extra help remembering who they are.

I had a lot of fun playing. I liked that when asked about characters it was random every time. The character card deck also included two cards with the previous player and the next player, so your friends could sometimes be part of the comparison too. Being a huge fan of the show and playing with others who loved it, it was really fun to see the pairings made and the reasons why we would choose one character over the other. For example, I was asked who I would call in an emergency, Alexis or Stevie. I chose Alexis because I felt that with all of her life experiences there was not an emergency that she couldn’t figure out how to resolve while those I was playing with would choose Stevie to be more trustworthy. One thing was certain, Moira was almost always the correct answer when she showed up.

I think the only problem with this game is that you have to know the show well enough to play. For example, Patrick is a character who is asked about, but he didn’t show up until the third season. I’m not saying this is a bad thing for fans, I just think it would be hard to pull this game out among a group if you don’t know their general knowledge of the show. Even cards that don’t ask you to choose between characters may have questions about the show, perhaps asking you to join a certain character’s party. For me, this really limits how often the game can be pulled out and played.

Overall, I really enjoyed this game and think it got exactly what it was trying to do. The only drawback for me is that I feel like I can’t get it out with groups of friends very often. That said, I would rate this game 9/10 if you and many of your friends really like it The Schitt cove so i would really recommend buying this game.
