Disney has built a real entertainment empire over the years and is now a force to be reckoned with. Disney Studios owns Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Disney +, 20th Century Studios, and Hulu. Some of you will be happy to learn that the studio has finished buying everything and have no plans to buy any other studios or networks.
This information comes from the CEO of Disney Studios Bob Chapek himself during the Wall Street Journal’s Tech Live 2022 conference, which took place recently. He said:
“We have the best creative teams, the best brands and franchises in the world. We are happy enough to have the level of output through our channels without having to be a buyer in the open market.”
So, they finally admitted that they have everything they need to rule the world. Chapek went on to say their “plan is to have all of our content creation stand alone.” So now they will focus on developing projects within the entities they already own.
Disney’s CEO has been asked about some consumers who think Disney is “too smart”. Chapek replied: “We want to reflect the world we live in – the world is a rich and diverse place and we want our content to reflect that. It’s okay from a commercial point of view too, because you’re targeting the broadest possible base. Disney represents the union of people. “
So that’s it. Disney feels comfortable and confident in its current direction. But who knows, at some point, they might end up trying to start buying again!
