“Game of Thrones” has had several chapters and occasions in which fans have lashed out at HBO and the producers because of the prevailing darkness in some scenes, which did not make it easy for them to see and made it difficult for them to understand events. The best example of this was the third episode of last season, “The Long Night”, a tremendously important chapter that left fans with discontent, not only for the development of the plot, but also for the lack of lighting, leaving the viewers immersed in a sea of doubts throughout the broadcast, because the scenes were too dark. ‘Marcaderiva’, the last episode of ‘The house of the dragon’, once again left us several sequences in which darkness and the difficulty of being able to observe what is happening prevail.
Several scenes from the latest broadcast took place at night, in the darkness of the beaches of Driftmark, and involved several key characters in the story. While the lack of light didn’t spoil the main events of the episode, it did spoil some shots, which were mistaken for lack of light. The audience was frustrated with the result and remembered those moments of darkness and shadows they experienced in “Game of Thrones”, returning their feelings of anger and discontent.
Several members of the fandom took to Twitter during the broadcast of “Driftmark” to complain about it “they couldn’t see anything”. Some have claimed that although the chap “Looks good”they wanted to invest more budget in the lighting of the series. Also, some of them think it’s worse than “Game of Thrones”, suggesting that this prequel is “literally the darkest series” who have seen and complain about it “I couldn’t see shit.”

Likewise, viewers were bothered, not only by the darkness, but also by not being able to tell which characters were present in the hardest-to-watch scenes. Many of them involve Targaryen characters, making them easy to recognize thanks to their unmistakable hair, however, several Velaryon characters have also been featured in dark scenes and fans say they weren’t able to tell them apart easily.

Another user said ironically “Is this ‘The House of the Dragon’ or ‘The House of Darkness’?”complaining of not being able to see anything.
