Tudum was recently held, an event organized by Netflix in which they reveal news about their future films and series that will reach their catalog in streaming. Among the many announcements, the company has revealed the first trailer for “The Watcher”, a new thriller series from Ryan Murphy, creator of “Dahmer”, and which is based on a macabre real case.

At the event, the trailer for ‘The observer’, with Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale, although the rest of the cast also includes Mia Farrow, Noma Dumesweni, Joe Mantello, Richard Kind, Terry Kinney, Margo Martindale, Jennifer Cooolidge, just to name a few. It is worth mentioning that this new thriller will be released on Netflix on October 13th.

Ryan Murphy, creator of “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” with Evan Peters, as well as his best-known series, “American Horror Story”, was based on the case of the Broaddus family for ‘The observer’, even though, for the history of the series, the main couple (Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale), have been renamed, and now they are called the Braddocks, in any case the mystery is the same.

‘The observer’ tells the true story of the Broaddus, a family that lived in Westfield, New Jersey, in the United States, way back in 2014, when Derek and Maria decided to buy a house that would be the place they had always dreamed of having. But shortly after arriving home, a series of strange events caused them to rethink their situation.

‘The Watcher’, the Broaddus family stalker

The spectacular home was built in 1905 and had approximately 364 square feet and six rooms, according to the New York Times. The Broaddus bought the house for more than $ 1 million, however, shortly after they were there, they would have been in for a surprise. A strange guardian, who called himself “The Watcher” or “El Vigilante”, hence the name of the Netflix series, started sending strange letters to the family, where he let them know that he was watching them.

The story of the property at 657 Boulevard in Westfield attracted so much attention from the press that within days all the neighbors and residents of the city were aware of the case. The family repeatedly denounced the strange letters left in their mailbox by the stalker, who was interested in how they got the house and why they were there.

The Broaddus tried to contact the former members of the house, and revealed that they experienced the same situation, until they decided to leave the place. The family had no choice but to leave the house and, so far, the authorities do not know the true identity of that mysterious stalker.
