‘The house of the dragon’: the photos of the fourth episode anticipate the reunion between Rhaenyra and Daemon

The promotional images of the fourth episode of ‘House of the Dragon’ reveal a affectionate reunion between Daemon and Rhaenyra Targaryen. This meeting between uncle and nephew will take place after years without seeing each other, meeting again in King’s Landing, a place recognized by fans. This “Game of Thrones” prequel series arrived on HBO in late August and introduced us to new players competing for Game of Thrones, placing narrative action 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen. The main protagonists of the house of fire and dragons are King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine), Prince Daemon (Matt Smith) and the king’s eldest daughter, Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock).

Recently, HBO released its usual promotional images, which precede the chapter released every Sunday on the platform. These photographs revealed several interesting facts, one of the most surprising was the reunion between Daemon and Rhaenyra. For the third installment, both characters were very separate in terms of storylines and locations, not seeing each other for a few years. However, the meeting between the Targaryens will come this Sunday during the fourth episode. The image shared by HBO was totally revealing: it shows us both characters in what appears to be a tender meeting under the dam tree in the Forest of the Gods, located in the Red Keep.

In this image we can see a changed Demon, without his usual mane, now wearing short white hair. The prince holds his niece’s Valyria steel necklace, a gift he gave her during the first episode. He seems to look at her with some tenderness, with an unusual smile on her face, while the young Targaryen watches him, reciprocating her affectionate gesture. This image confirms the special bond that existed between the charactersshowing us that, rather than considering each other as rivals, there seems to be a mutual feeling of affection between them.

This image gives one to theorize about the relationship between uncle and nephew, however, we will have to wait for the next episode to confirm the nature of this meeting and its outcome. While the images shared by HBO are usually cryptic, this time around they give us plenty of clues for debate within the fan community, which waits patiently for Sunday to confirm or disprove their theories about the ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel.

More details to analyze

In addition to the evocative encounter of Daemon and Rhaenyra, the promotional images offer us other interesting details to analyze. For instance, in one of them we see the prince in court wearing a crown, proud after his victory at Stone Steps and considering himself a monarch. Other frames that attract attention are those that show us a conversation between the young Taragaryen and Queen Alicent, childhood friends who are going through a complicated moment from the point of view of their friendship.

Also, in another we are shown Rhaenyra sitting next to Lord Boremund Baratheon, in what appears to be a first glimpse of the ancestral throne of the House, Storm’s End. mentioned numerous times in “Game of Thrones”, but never seen on screen before. These previews of the fourth episode seem to indicate that on Sunday 11 September we will have an interesting and revealing chapter.
