Studiocanal UK shared a trailer for a fascinating new romantic comedy, entitled What does love have to do with this? The film centers on a director, played by Giglio Giacomowho is filming a documentary about his longtime friend and neighbor, starring Latin Shazad, as it goes through the process of being set up with an arranged marriage. It looks like it could actually be a delightful romantic comedy.
The film is also the protagonist Emma Thompson, Shabana Azmi, Sajal Aly, Asim Chaudhry, Jeff Mirza, Mim Shaikh, and more. Here is the synopsis:
How do you find lasting love in today’s world? For Zoe (Lily James), documentary maker and dating app enthusiast, swiping right produced only an endless stream of Mr Wrongs, to the dismay of her eccentric mother Cath (Emma Thompson). For Zoe’s childhood friend and neighbor Kaz (Shazad Latif), the answer is to follow her parents’ example and opt for an arranged (or “assisted”) marriage with a beautiful and bright Pakistani bride. As Zoe films her hopeful journey from London to Lahore to marry a stranger, chosen by her parents, she begins to wonder if she might have something to learn from this profoundly different approach to the search for true love.
