Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men, The terrifying adventures of Sabrina) joined the cast of the holiday movie Red to Amazon Prime, in which she will star alongside Dwayne Johnson And Chris Evans. Jake Kasdan (Jumanji franchise) directs the film.
The plot of the film and Shipka’s role in it are kept under wraps. The project is presented as an action-adventure comedy turning the world in four quadrants imagining a whole new universe to explore within the vacation genre. Amazon Studios developed the film’s treatment from an original story by Seven Bucks Productions’ president of production Hiram Garcia, which it got last year after a competitive bidding war.
Frequent contributor to Seven Bucks Chris Morgan wrote the script for Redand previously worked with the company on several Fast & Furious franchise films.
The Amazon Original Movie reunites Kasdan, Johnson and Seven Bucks Productions after their successful hits with Sony Jumanji movie. While a release date for Red has not yet been set, the film will be streamed on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories around the world. Shipka can be seen later in Matt Smukler’s play Field flowerstarring Alexandra Daddario and Jean Smart, which will premiere at this year’s Toronto Film Festival.
