In these days, Tom Cruise it’s kind of a package with the director Christopher McQuarrie. The couple did the Mission Impossible movies, as well as Jack Reacher, Board of Tomorrowand, more recently, Top Gun: Maverick. The actor and writer / director are constantly collaborating to find the next big movie in which to push Cruise’s limits, and we have some information on their upcoming projects.
I’m still in the middle of Mission: Impossible 8 – Cruise was recently photographed in the Lake District in the UK practicing what appears to be his next death-defying stunt, something called “flight speed” – and sources told Deadline that Cruise and McQuarrie are planning. three new film projects. One is an original song and dance-style musical that they will make as a star vehicle for Cruise. They are also preparing another original action film with franchise potential and are also fixated on Les Grossman. The latter is the gruff and light-hearted studio executive Cruise starred in the cameo for tropical thunder. It is unclear whether they will create an entire Grossman movie or borrow it for inclusion in one of the other vehicles.
Cruise has long been interested in making a musical. He learned to sing like a rock star Rock of the Centuryand would dance too, with all three of these scripts written by McQuarrie in collaboration with Cruise.
There is also the untitled film that Cruise intends to make with the director Doug Liman and the McQuarrie production. You know, the one that will go around in space, with NASA and SpaceX by Elon Musk. Universal has bought the rights to these projects and has aligned with SEE-1, film producer duo Elena and Dmitry Lesnevsky, the newly launched Space Entertainment Enterprise (SEE) by Dmitry Lesnevsky, which will dock with the first commercial space station of Axiom, Axiom Station, which is connected to the International Space Station (ISS). This will most likely be the next project in Cruise and McQuarrie’s palmares.
Which of all these whimsical project ideas are you most excited to see realized?
