‘The Invisible Agent’: Netflix confirms a spin-off and a sequel starring Ryan Gosling

“The Invisible Agent” arrived in Spanish cinemas on July 15 and a week later was already available for viewing on Netflix. The results were apparently satisfactory for the platform, because it confirmed the production of a spin-off and a sequel starring Ryan Gosling once again.

According to data published by the Netflix website, “The Invisible Agent” was played by users for a total of over 88 million hours during the past week. So, the film was placed in the top 10 best films in 93 different countries and in the top 1 out of 84 of them.

Also, the movie has a chance to sneak into the list of the most popular movies in Netflix history, although you will have to keep increasing your numbers for that to happen. The list is led by ‘Alerta Roja’, who got more than 364 million hours during its first 28 days of streaming. In tenth place appears the rival to beat, ‘Spenser: Confidential’. The film starring Mark Wahlberg closes the list with a total of 197.3 million hours watched during the first four weeks available.

“The Invisible Agent” follows the life of a former CIA agent played by Gosling, who is persecuted for some of his darkest secrets within the organization.. Another agent turned mercenary, named Lloyd Hansen and played by Chris Evans, offers him a bounty. Gosling’s character will eventually seek help from police officer Dani Miranda (“Ana de Armas”) to get rid of this persecution. The cast of the film directed by brothers Joe Russo and Anthony Russo is completed by Billy Bob Thornton, Regé-Jean Page, Jessica Henwick, Dhanush, Wagner Moura and Alfre Woodard.

Confirmed for sequels and spin-offs

In view of the sequel, only the presence of Gosling, the Russo brothers and one of the screenwriters in charge of writing the first of these episodes based on the series of novels by Mark Greaney, Stephen McFeely, is confirmed.. “We always intended ‘Invisible Agent’ to be part of an expanded universe”the Russo brothers added next to the A.D below.

As for the spin-off, we still don’t know practically all the details, the only thing revealed is that Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese will be the writers in charge of making it..
