Although fans are eagerly awaiting the San Diego Comic-Con panel in which Marvel will present the news of its Cinematic Universe in real action, the presentation dedicated to its animated series took place on Friday 22 July. And the panel was loaded with news. Among them, many renovations.

This was announced by the House of Ideas ‘What If …?’, The alternative reality animated spin-off of the MCU, will have a third season. We still have the second pending, which they confirmed won’t arrive until early 2023, but at least we already know we have a lot of multiverse to watch alongside Jeffrey Wright’s character.
Within the universe ‘What would happen if …?’, We remember that a spin-off is in progress, “Marvel Zombies”which will take place in the same universe as the episode in which many of our heroes were undead. Marvel has revealed that the series will be aimed at an adult audience and, therefore, will have an age rating equivalent to the “Rated R” of films in the United States.. On the zombie side they confirmed that we will see Wanda Maximoff, Ghost, Hawkeye, Abomination, Captain Marvel, Captain America and Ikaris, and on the hero side we will find Yelena Belova, Kate Bishop, Jimmy Woo, Shang-Chi, Ms. Marvel, Death Dealer, Red Guardian and Katy, the character of Awkwafina. We’ll have to wait, yes, to see it because it won’t arrive on Disney + until 2024.
They also updated the status of “Spider-Man: Freshman Year”, animated series focused on Peter Parker and which will be inspired by the classic Spider-Man cartoons. The series will show us Peter’s life before he met the Avengers in “Civil War”, and although we will have to wait until 2024 to see it, they have also confirmed a second season for later, which will be titled “Spider-Man: Sophomore Year”.
Confirmed characters for “Spider-Man: Freshman Year”
Along with the renewal, producer Jeff Trammell has revealed some of the characters we will see in the series, starting with Daredevil / Matt Murdock, who will have the voice of Charlie Cox. Also confirmed Norman and Harry Osborn, Amadeus Cho, the Unicorn, Chameleon, Scorpion, Speed Demon, Tarantula, Rhino, Butane and Doctor Otto Octavius. And also Nico Minoru, of ‘Runaways’, will be part of the series.
Another animated title that confirmed a second season before its premiere is “X-Men 97”, the revival of the mythical cartoon series focused on mutants. The first season will premiere in the fall of 2023, so we have to wait. But they confirmed another surprise! In the new chapters, Professor X will not be the leader of the X-Men … he will be Magneto!
Finally, it was also confirmed ‘I am Groot’the series of short films focusing on the charismatic tree of the Guardians of the Galaxy, it also got an early renewal and will have a second season. The first will premiere on Disney + on August 10, and they’ve released a first trailer which is the most adorable thing you’ll see today:
