The sixth chapter of the ‘Scream’ saga is already in the oven. Following the success of the fifth film, titled simply “Scream,” Paramount Pictures has called in directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and screenwriters James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick to take care of a new film focusing on Ghostface and their possible victims. And although the return of much of the previous film’s (surviving) cast and Courteney Cox has been confirmed, fans still haven’t gotten used to the idea of a “Scream” without Sidney Prescott..

Neve Campbell will not appear in the film and the actress herself explained that it was because the salary negotiations had not gone through.: “As a woman, I have to work very hard in my career to clarify my value, especially in ‘Scream’. I feel the offer that was presented to me did not match the value I brought to the franchise.” he explained when he broke the news.
The actress is back to talk about the horror saga that gave her fame in a panel at the Mad Monster Party in Arizona (via ScreenRant). There she confirmed that the idea was for Sidney to return, so her absence is due solely and exclusively to not having reached an agreement: “There were plans for Sidney, but unfortunately there aren’t any more. I’m sure they will make a good movie”. Campbell also said prior to the sixth installment announcement that she was willing to continue playing Sidney. But, of course, she has to be on a decent salary for the big star in the franchise.
New victims?
As we said, Courteney Cox will not only return in “Scream 6”, again as Gale Weathers. We will also see Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding and Jenna Ortega, the additions to the cast of the latest episode. They are joined by two recent purchases, confirmed by Bloody Disgusting. One is Samara Weaving, who has already carved a niche in the hearts of horror fans with “The Wedding Night,” and the other is Tony Revolori, whom we saw as the Flash in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movies.. The cast is completed by Hayden Panettiere, Dermot Mulroney, Jack Champion, Liana Liberato, Devyn Nekoda, Josh Segarra and Henry Czerny. “Scream 6” will be released in theaters on March 21 next year.
