ATRESplayer PREMIUM is already filming the revival of another of Atresmedia’s most memorable series. “One Step Ahead” will soon be resurrected on the company’s streaming platform under the title “UPA Next”. The series will consist of eight episodes and will feature some of the best-known faces from the original Antena 3 series, such as Beatriz Luengo, Miguel Ángel Muñoz, Mónica Cruz and Lola Herrera.who returns as Carmen Arranz, director of the dance school.
The platform has released the first photos and a video in which we are introduced to the new cast members: Mónica Mara, Quique González, Marc Betriu, Marc Soler, Claudia Lachispa, Almudena Salort, Nuno Gallego, Karina Soro and Álex Medina. These are the descriptions of the new characters:
– Monica Mara is Andrew, a sporty, outgoing, sweet and strong girl, but who has a point of class. She lives with her father in a good neighborhood.
– Quique Gonzalez is omar, Cuban, from a family with few resources. He is outgoing and quite quick, but he has a good heart. It is difficult for him to establish relationships, but then he turns to them.
– Claudia Lachispa is Elvira, with a big voice even if you don’t notice it. Quite naive, but sincere, affectionate and spontaneous. He never left his neighborhood.
– Almudena Salort is Lazy Lala, a trapera with talent and material as a leader. His mother is in prison.
– Karina Soro is Tare, an otaku who works in a comic store and is a success on social media. He always says what he thinks but doesn’t try to hurt.
– Alex Medina is Susoa boy who is very talented for urban dance but copes with anxiety by resorting to drugs.
– Nuno Gallego is Dario, the typical guy who stands out from the start by how handsome he is. He plays the guitar and keyboard.
15 years later …
‘UPA Next’ takes place 15 years after ‘Un Paso Adelante’, with Rober (Miguel Ángel Muñoz) returning from the United States with the ambition to create a musical about UPA and to involve students from the Carmen Arranz school. To do this he will look for Silvia (Mónica Cruz), who is now the director of the school, and Lola (Beatriz Luengo), who left the school because she did not get along with Silvia. The center-right isn’t going through his best moment, so casting could be his salvation. Lucas Velasco joins Luiso, Silvia’s partner, and Marta Guerras is Sira, the new teacher.
We still don’t know when “UPA Next” episodes will be released on ATRESplayer PREMIUM. The series is backed by Globomedia and Atresmedia Televisión and will be directed by Lucas Gil and Sandra Gallego. Toni Espinosa will take care of the choreography.
