Santiago Segura dares to celebrate Christmas in July. In the midst of a heat wave, “Father there are only one 3” arrives in the halls on Thursday 14 July.which brings an ideal winter spirit to lower high temperatures. “They tried to stop me, but I don’t see this as a Christmas movie as such, but as a third part of a fun family saga that people like.”To explain the director, who is also co-author of the film’s screenplay and co-star.
This third installment of the saga tells the adventures and misadventures of Javier’s (Segura) family during the Christmas holidays. Unintentionally, his children accidentally break a nativity scene figurine from his collection and absolutely must get one like it, the problem is that it is a unique piece of antiques. The eldest daughter, Sara (Martina D’Antiochia), instead breaks up with her boyfriend, Ocho (El Cejas), who will try to recover her favors with the help of her father-in-law. Secondly, During these holidays, Marisa’s (Toni Acosta) father will arrive, played by Carlos Iglesias, who is experiencing the recent separation from his wife and will attract the attention of Milagros (Loles León).
A third episode that stands out for being very different from the two previous films. “I wanted to close the trilogy a bit, I saw that there was still a lot of fun left and I was sad not to explore it further, because the whiteness of children is somehow lost. There is a wonderful age of childhood that is very spontaneous, but at a certain point they start thinking in a similar way to an adult. We had a lot of fun with the first two and we said why not a third “, Segura explains in an interview granted to eCartelera.

Although Segura acknowledges that the good commercial data of the previous installment, “The arrival of the mother-in-law”, prompted the creation of a third party, notes that he wouldn’t have embarked on another sequel if he hadn’t found a story worth telling. “Sequels are very dangerous, they don’t always work. You have to have an idea of what you want to do and then, if possible, do it not just because it’s a commercial success. It’s one of the main reasons why it happens, sure, but on many occasions. there are changes of director, of scriptwriters, some actors come back and others don’t, and I didn’t want that. It is true that with ‘Father there is only one’ we have created a kind of family, that we love each other and we like to find each other again.”details.
The importance of having protagonists over the age of 70
One of the most important aspects of the film is that Milagros, the grandmother played by Loles León, stars in an unusual plot in commercial cinema, which shows a 70-year-old woman full of energywanting to rediscover love, with prospects for the future and completely autonomous, which makes it one of the strengths of the film, betting on the visibility of mature protagonists, far from clichés.
“At these ages, from the 60s, 70s and 80s, as long as we have a good head, we want it all. We want to flirt, go out, dance, fall in love, love, feel in general. You can have a boyfriend and date, meet him and then take care of the grandchildren and so richly. And of course you talk about it with your children. People in my life have already experienced all of this. As long as there is life, there are these desires and I thank Santiago [Segura] who captured them in the movie “Loles León expresses.

“Yes, it was time [de que haya tramas reales de gente mayor]. In the movies, there are hardly any plots for characters of a certain age, leaving them alone as the grandmother or grandfather who takes care of the grandchildren and little else. Today, a retiree has a lot to live for and it’s good that the narrative reflects that, we need more characters of the genre”adds Toni Acosta.
Directed by Santiago Segura, who signs the screenplay together with Marta González de Vega, ‘Padre no hay más que uno 3’ sees Santiago Segura himself together with Toni Acosta, Loles León, Carlos Iglesias, Leo Harlem, Silvia Abril, Martina D ‘ Antioch, Calma Segura, Luna Fulgencio, Carlos González, Sirena Segura, Luna López, Candela Haro, Wendy Ramos and Diego Arroba ‘El Cejas’. Produced by María Luisa Gutiérrez, Mercedes Gamero and Segura himself, the film will be released in theaters on July 14, hand in hand with Sony Pictures Spain.
