This hurts. Like so many of you, I grew up looking at Hulk Hogan Dominates the world of wrestling. The man was not just a wrestler, he was like a superhero who came to life, bigger than anything on TV. Today I have a broken heart to share that Hogan died at the age of 71.
According to TMZ, the WWE icon was running from his home in Clearwater, Florida, Thursday morning after suffering what has been reported as a “cardiac arrest”. The emergency crews and the police were seen outside the house before being transported to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead. At the moment, the official cause of death has not been confirmed.
Hogan’s health was a topic of conversation for years, with voices and speculations that follow him in recent decades. Just last month, a radio conductor from Florida said that Hogan had slipped into a coma, a story that his representatives quickly closed, defining him completely false.
For many of us, Hogan was not just a wrestler, it was the face of an era. He did freshly wrestling, inaugurating a gold era of sports entertainment. His charism was electric, his undeniable presence and those biggest moments of life, snatching the shirt, the drop for the legs, the roar of “Whatcha Got Fa, brother?” They are burned in the history of wrestling.
Hogan was not just wrestling. It was a superstar crossover before it was common. After cemented as the biggest name in WWE, he jumped to Hollywood with his role of Thunderlips In Rocky III (1982), then starring action films and family comedies in the 80s and 90s. It appeared in iconic TV series such as The team A., Baywatchand even Walker, Texas Ranger.
At the beginning of the 2000s, Hogan moved to the reality TV with Hogan knows it betterGive the fans a look at his personal life and introduce his family in the spotlight. His daughter Brooke Hogan and son Nick also pursued careers in entertainment, keeping Hogan’s name alive for a new generation.
Of course, Hogan’s life was not without controversy. He had to face public control during the 1994 steroid scandal, admitting an oath for the use of anabolic steroids for years. Subsequently, he fought legal battles on chronic injuries, sung to a spinal surgery clinic in 2013 for failed treatments. Despite the setbacks, Hogan remained a family name, showing how enormous his impact on wrestling and pop culture was.
Hogan survived his children, Brooke and Nick, as well as his widow, Sky Daily. The details surrounding his disappearance should come from Clearwater police later today.
I can’t tell you how sad I’m writing this. Hogan was The boy When I was a child, the reason why I had a mountain of wrestling action characters, the reason why I loved wrestling as a child in the first place. Hulkamania was not just a slogan. It was a movement. For those of us who grew up looking at it, it is the end of an era.
Rest in peace, Hulkster. You were a single one of its kind.
