Superman Clip explains Clark Kent’s “Hypno glasses” in a hilarious exchange

A brand new clip by Superman It was recently shared during Nathan FillionI wait Jimmy Kimmel LiveAnd he finally gives fans a fun explanation in the universe for Clark Kent’s Hypno glasses that somehow convince people who are not Superman.

In the scene, Fillion’s Guy Gardner is chatting Rachel BrosnahanLois Lane, and randomly collects the whole “How do you know Superman?” request. Lois sweeps him away with a cool, “I do it alone”, but Gardner doesn’t let him go. So drop the great revelation:

“I’m not saying who he is, just wearing Hypno glasses. They make his face exceptional. How do they work? They make him look different in your brain when he wears them so as not to know who he is.”

Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced) calls him immediately for sharing what looks like a great secret, but Gardner deflects. He is not saying who Superman is, just those glasses are doing some psychic lifting.

Lois quickly closes it with an impassive “I know of the Hypno glasses”, confirming that it is already secret.

The glasses have always been a critical point for some fans. The idea that a pair of glasses can hide the most powerful being on earth seems one of those comic rules “just go with it”. But director James Gunn I decided to lean on strangeness and in reality it makes sense.

In an interview mainly Gunn explained how the idea evolved:

“I was sitting with Tom King, the comic writer, and I was like, ‘you know the thing I don’t really know how to reconcile in myself are glasses because the glasses have always annoyed me as a child.”

“They annoyed me because I don’t have so much suspension of incredulity to believe it. But he said:” You know, there is an answer for this in the comics, it is a fee that hypnotize people. “”

So yes, in SupermanClark’s glasses are canonically doing some science fiction makeup, with their amazing technology that keeps its identity safe. Leave it to Gunn to transform the suspension of disbelief into a point of the plot that actually improves the strange charm of the universe.
