Ridley Scottthe mind behind the original AlienHe officially clarified that he finished with the franchise. After years of modeling of the iconic science fiction universe, Scott’s Focus now moves to what awaits us for the franchise, just not with him behind the director’s chair.
The 87 -year -old director recently shared his thoughts with Screenrant, confirming him, while he is still invested in Alien Universe, he “made enough” with the series and will not return to direct another episode.
Reflecting on the evolution of the alien franchise, Scott admitted that after Alien resurrection (1997), The series lost its spark.
“I think I heard he died after 4 pm. I think mine was damn good, and I think [James Cameron’s] It was good and I must say that the rest was not very good. And I thought: “F -, this is the end of a franchise that should be as important as Star Trek or Star Wars,” which I think is phenomenal “.
Scott even designed a comparison with 2001: a spatial odysseyrecognizing the monumental meaning of the first Alien Film in modeling the science fiction genre.
It is difficult to believe now, but when Scott took Alien in 1979, it was not a guaranteed success. The study was not even excited to have directed it.
“A few years later, I said, ‘I intend to rise this’,” ” [and wrote] Prometheus from scratch: a sheet of empty paper. Damon Lindelof and I hammered Prometheus. It was very present and very welcome. The audience really wanted more. ”
This awakening continued with Alien: Alliance (2017), which Scott also guided, even if he now feels he has done everything possible for the franchise.
So what does Scott hope for Alien’s future? Even if he does not return to direct, his hopes remain high for the direction that the series will take.
“Where he is going now, I think I did enough and I just hope he goes further.”
With the reaction that Alien: Romulus Got, who has produced, seems that the series is still generating real excitement again.
Fans have even more to watch with the next streaming series Alien: earthwhich is previewed on Hulu on August 12th. Scott is an executive manufacturer of the series.
While there have been previous reports that suggest that Scott could develop another prequel film, his recent comments leave us uncertain about the state of the project. Whether it’s demolition or simply not in its future director, Scott’s observations suggest that the management of the franchise will now be in the hands of others.
