As the dance season approaches, Netflix is sprinkling the bodice and bloodstains with Fear Street: Prom Queen. The film is based on RL Stinethriller for teenagers of 1992 and this last item in Fear street Franchising will bleed the horror of the 80s.
Collider recently shared a couple of images at the first Love, but his director Matt PalmerIntuition behind the scenes that really gives fans a taste of what will come. Palmer said:
“Visually, we actually took a lot of inspiration from the movies such as River’s Edge AND Blue velvetIn terms of nailing an authentic aspect of the 80s and a wrong side of the traces that are heard for Shadyside. “
Palmer is pulling from the darker and more atmospheric corners of the time. While the film moves to the chaos of the evening of the dance, the style rises with a nod deliberate to the slasher icons and the Italian horror masters.
“As the film advances and we move in the dance itself, the visual aspect becomes more acute, falling more in line with the classic slasher of the 80s, as well as the Italian Giallos of the same period.
“Some of my favorite directors – John Carpenter, Dario Argento and David Lynch – also feel influences on the visual aspect and on the film as a whole.”
Palmer seems to try to create a film that is like a forgotten VHS gem that has just been discovered. He added:
“The entire film is a love letter for Slasher films of the 80s, it is really filtered in every frame of the film. There is a lot of Slasher movies that I am crazy – Happy birthday to me, sleep camp, AND Pieces To name just a few – and the idea was to try to create a “classic slasher”, as if the film had been blocked at once since 1988 and released only now “.
As for music, it will be pure bliss of the 80s. Gore? All practical. So things have become disordered.
“Our film is set in 1988, so the gaze, the tone and even our killings are inspired by the classic horror of the time. We have made a lot of entrusting on practical effects and bleeding sprays that we captured in real time – which has made the shooting incredibly disordered, but madly fun.”
Palmer wrote the movie with Donald McLary and they built a new story with new characters while keeping the DNA of Fear street intact.
In Fear Street: Prom Queen“Welcome back to Shadyside. In this next episode of Blood-Soked Fear street Franchise, the Shadyside High dance season is underway and the school Wolfpack of It Girls is busy with its usual sweet and purple campaigns for the crown.
“But when a courageous outsider is unexpectedly named on the field and the other girls mysteriously begin to disappear, the ’88 class is suddenly inside for a night of the night.”
The cast includes India Fowler, Fine terad, Suzanna son, Ariana Greenblat, She rubin, Chris Klein, Katherine Waterston, David IaconoAND Lili Taylor.
If you want a return slasher to the past that knows exactly what it is, Fear Street: Prom Queen It could be your Cronobase ticket and summarized at 1988. The film is now available for viewing on Netflix.
