It seems James Gunn’S Superman He is feeling the pressure while heading towards his version of 11 July. With the film blocked as the official launch of the new DC universe, the expectations are enormous and, according to the new relationships, some initial test projections have not gone as planned.
This led to some last minute changes, including filming, mixing the scene and even a tonal revision.
A new World of Reel report, citing “sources close to production”, says that “tensions are high in Warner Bros.” Following a screening of the early test that “received a mixed reception”, pushing what is called a “waterfall of changes” behind the scenes.
One of the greatest changes reported is the tone. Apparently, Gunn’s original cut had much more humor in the vein of Guardians of the galaxy AND Suicide. This did not go well with some managers of Warner Bros., who were not “completely sold” in terms of Superman’s comedy.
The result … Gunn was asked to mitigate things, including the cut of different rhythms and comic scenes.
In addition, the film was reduced by about 25 minutes in total. Runtime Drama has already been an online hot topic and Gunn has even previously dealt with it, calling some of the exaggerated voices. However, it seems that a shorter and closer cut is on the table.
So, according to the report, one of the original editors of the film was “removed in the middle of the trial” and the structure of the film was reworked, which means that some scenes have been transferred, others added and the story has remodeled.
So how is the revised cut going? Well, according to what reported, Warner Bros. is soon planning another great test screening and the insiders say that the managers are “a little safer this time. If this means that the creative pins have improved the film or simply calm down in the Council room … we will probably feel quite soon.
What is clear is that these changes behind the scenes have aroused all types of reactions through the fandom. Snyder fans could be happy to hear that Gunn’s humor has been called back. Gunn’s loyalists could worry that the charm they love has been compromised. And all the others? Probably tired of watching WB managers enter the assembly room every time DC has a great film on the line.
At the end of the day, Superman It should be the first safe step in a new DC era. But, with all this noise, it is difficult not to feel that the old habits tighten.
