The star of the season 2 of Ahsoka Rory McCann talks about playing Baylan Skoll: “I think it’s the right decision”

game of Thrones actor Rory McCann has officially entered the role of Baylan Skoll for Ahsoka Season 2, a character originally played by the deceased Ray Stevenson, Whose performance has left a powerful impression on fans.

Speaking for the first time on taking the role, McCann opened with a mix of humility, excitement and reverence for what happened before. McCann said to Comicbook:

“I think it is the right decision to carry on his plot, not just cutting it. We have already done it with other things. I hope the fans embrace him and I will do my best.

“I’m just starting now, so I’m just trying to be in the right area to do it. It’s quite bloody exciting. I want to say, I remember having been a child with my father, go to the first probably in the late 70s and 80s. Now I train with a laser sword at night, so it’s quite exciting.”

McCann’s casting has been confirmed at Star Wars Celebration 2025 and looks like a natural move if you consider its previous roles that interpret gritty, intense and silently complex characters. His imposing presence on the screen and Gravitas could bring something unique to Baylan, while honoring what Stevenson started.

Creator of the series Dave Filoni He also spoke of the challenge of continuing Baylan’s arc after Stevenson ‘disappearance, saying that it was not a decision that made lightly.

“It was also a challenge for me to consider the possibility of continuing for a while. But I have a big support group with Jon [Favreau] and Rosario [Dawson]. And I found a way and I had Ray on my head.

“AND [I’m] Grateful for all those conversations with him on Baylan, so I understood what to do. It just took a while to get there. But I am very confident now that Ray would be happy with the direction of the character we have chosen. “

Stevenson gave extraordinary performance Ahsoka Season 1, elaborating a mysterious, powerful character and on the point of something great. After death, there was a strong question mark hanging on the future of the show. But now, with McCann that brandishes the saber with orange blade, the story advances.

Star Wars celebration has also made fun of some other great revelations: Hayden Christensen He is officially returning to Anakin Skywalker in season 2 and Admiral Ackbar will go on tiptoe with the Grand Admiral Thrawn. The filming shown behind closed doors offered a coil of concept-art frame combined with voice-over which hinted at huge battles and a conflict of galaxies.

There is no official release date for Ahsoka The second season, but between Christensen’s return, the growing threat of Thrown and Rory McCann trains with a laser sword under the stars, the force feels strong with this.
