Matt Reeves’ The Batman It was a bold and meditobondo noir that reinventing Gotham as dark and gritty criminal thriller. The director did an excellent job with the film and fans patiently waited for the sequel.
Reeves developed The Batman: Part II For years, and has also crossed some personal issues, which has slowed down the process. While Gunn confirmed that Reeves is still attached to Direct, a new voice suggests that it may not do it alone for the sequel.
On the podcast hot Mic, the entertainment scoop Jeff Sneider said:
“I mean, I would be surprised if he had directed the film alone. If he remains on board as a director, why is it not conceivable that he could have a co-regista? In particular James Gunn.
“I don’t know, it could be nobody. I will tell you who has just come out in the wind: Mr. Sam Raimi.”
I love the fact that he has just dropped the name of Raimi. The man behind evil Dead AND Tobey Maguire’S Spider-man “Come out in the wind” trilogy? This is a way to mix the bat! Personally I would like to see Raimi direct a Batman movie! But his style is so different from Reeves’ I’m not sure it would be the right team.
We try to be clear here, however, there is no confirmation here, but the idea of Reeves potentially attract a co-director you feel … out of place. His opinion on the Caped Crusader is focused and particular. By mixing another voice with a different style in the mix, in particular a distinct like that of Raimi, it could launch the balance.
The sequel has been in the development phase since it was announced for the first time in Cinemacon in April 2022. Once it aimed at a release of 2026, but now it is officially scheduled for 1 October 2027.
According to the previous reports, Reeves “has sent pages for over half a year” and a “first draft of the script should be delivered by Memorial Day”.
At this point, Warner Bros. did not drop any detail of the plot, but Robert Pattinson will return to take on the role of Bruce Wayne aka Batman. I also imagine that we will see Zoe Kravits Back like Catwoman e Colin Farrell like the penguin.
So … Reeves could bring another director to help bring the weight? Perhaps. Would this compromise the artistic clarity that fans loved the first film? Even perhaps. Until we hear something official, however, it’s all speculation.
