Details Death Star in Rogue One makes Alderaan’s destruction in New Hope even more devastating for Princess Liea

Star Wars Fans always reveal themselves, revive and return the films and shows in the franchise. Thanks to Andor And a fresh look Rogue OneA specific connection has started to punish a little more, in particular a new perspective on the reaction of Princess Leia to the destruction of Alderaan A new hope.

On Reddit, a fan recently underlined something that many of us may not have taken into consideration, and now it is difficult not to see. Leia was not familiar with what black death could do when Tarkin ordered the obliteration of his Christmas planet, but what he still saw shattered.

The post reads: “In a new hope, when Leia is forced to look at Alderaan to be destroyed, reacts with horror and surprise (valid reaction)”. Continues:

“But there is a second part to this that I never made until I just saw Rogue One more. It was present in Scarif. It saw the effects of black death.

“He was not present in Jedha, but I’m sure he heard of the consequences. So in his mind, while Tarkin gives the order, he expects a great explosion on the surface and many people die.

“And then his entire planet vaporizes only in a second, right in front of his eyes. Sofing completely not only his expectations, but that of rebellion.”

This is the intestinal fist. Leia knew she was coming, but she didn’t know how bad it would be.

In Rogue OneLeia is nearby when Scarif is hit by the black death, observing the repercussions from afar immediately after the plans were transmitted aboard the tantastic IV.

That moment, together with Jedha’s wreck, gave the rebellion a preview of the destructive force of the weapon. But Alderaan’s destruction was not just a tactical exhibition, it was personal.

And this time the weapon was not just killing people, he was sweeping away Leia’s past, his culture and his entire planet in an instant.

A fan also noticed the clear contrast on how destruction is shown:

“It is wild to move from the drama of Rogue One who shows to the black death that looms on Jedha and Scaf, the people who react from the ground, a detailed destruction, close to the crust of the planets who are getting apart while the music swells … to Alderaan who instantly transforms into an explosion of series movies only for about four seconds with almost no person.”

Of course, part of that difference is technical limitations. A new hope was made in 1977 eRogue One In 2016, but the emotional difference is amplified when you look at the order of history.

In Rogue OneThe destruction seems colossal and terrifying. When we arrive in Alderaan A new hopeThe horror is quieter, but for Leia, now seen under a new light, it is much more devastating.

With Andor Recently filling more on the construction of black death and the origins of rebellion, this small but interesting connection adds only another layer to the history of Leia.
