The Fantastic Four will reportedly surpass the Avengers in AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is heading into crazy territory Avengers: Judgment Dayand a surprising new rumor suggests that the Fantastic Four team, and not the Avengers, will take center stage in this highly anticipated MCU film.

Could Marvel’s First Family really eclipse Earth’s Mightiest Heroes? The initial plan for Judgment Day revolved around Kang the Conqueror as the central antagonist.

However, following Jonathan Majors’ legal problems, Marvel Studios has focused on introducing a new narrative Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, a fan-favorite villain with deep ties to the Fantastic Four.

According to Hollywood scooper MyTimeToShineHello, the film will be heavily focused on the Fantastic Four. In a recent post on X, they shared, “Doomsday will focus on F4 and then the 616 Avengers.”

The Fantastic Four debut in the MCU Fantastic Four: First Steps on July 25, 2025, and will most likely set the stage for Avengers: Judgment Day.

This relationship makes sense when considering the history between the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom. In the comics, Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) and Victor Von Doom have a rivalry that has influenced countless Marvel storylines.

Given that Doctor Doom is the main villain of the Fantastic Four, telling a story that is more tied to the Fantastic Four, rather than the Avengers, feels organic and faithful to the source material.

As for when Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom will premiere, I think it’s a safe bet that he’ll appear in Fantastic Four: First Steps. I can see the plot incorporating itself directly Avengers: Judgment Daycreating a solid narrative arc.

Avengers: Judgment Day is scheduled to hit theaters on May 1, 2026.
