Antonio Ramos has started in many films and TV series over the years, but was made famous by Hamiltonin which he starred on Broadway, and fans around the world were able to see it on Disney+ when it was released.
He continued to capitalize on the fame, landing more and more roles, and now he’s throwing himself into the world of the MCU.
Ramos caught up with ComingSoon to talk about his role in the upcoming series Iron heartin which he will play the villain Parker Robinson, aka The Hood. Ramos was asked if he used comics to create the character and he replied:
“No, I haven’t really dived into comics. I just focused on my character and you just follow the script. But it was also like, yo, how can I make this singular? How can I make it different?
“Parker Robinson in the comics is from New York. Our guy is from Chicago, our show is set there. So I just wanted to make it super dynamic. Like any character, I just see how I relate to him and try to put the most of myself into the character.
“I think that was how I saw it. But I definitely referenced the comics. He looks a certain way, but Parker Robinson in the comics looks different than me, you know? So it was nice to be able to almost recreate this guy.”
When asked if he would play a villain, Ramos said:
“Yeah, man. It’s beautiful. I’m starting to get these bad boy roles. Even in Twisters I wasn’t necessarily the good guy in the movie, you know what I mean?
“I think we all have that side, you know? I appreciate it. It’s very nice of you to say I’m a nice guy. I appreciate it, my brother. That’s what makes playing these kinds of roles even better.
“Because even some of our favorite villains are still likable, right? You think of the Joker, right? There are villains in movies where you go, ‘Damn, I really like this guy, but he’s the worst.’”
He continued:
“Every villain has their reasons, brother. They have their reasons, whether it makes sense to you or not, and whether you agree with what they do. They say, “Well, I do this for that…”
“My favorite part about playing a villain is that you really get to get into the mind of a person who is essentially doing something wrong, but has justified why they do it. To them, their reason is legitimate and it is a good reason.
“So it was fun to explore that not just with Hood, but with these different characters that I play.”
