Freddie Prinze Jr. has officially joined the cast of the upcoming I know what you did last summer film, which will be the sequel to the original 1997 horror film.
Jennifer Love-Hewitt is currently in talks to reprise his role. They will star alongside The Wonders of Chase Sui, My life is beautiful, Sarah Pigeon, Tyriq is pining away AND Jonah Haur-Re.
from Riverdale Camilla Mendes was originally cast in the film, but recently dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. It probably has something to do with her role in The Masters of the Universe film in development.
Years after the first film’s release, Prinze revealed that he was about to abandon the film because the director Jim Gillespie was “such a dick” to him on the set. He said there was tension because the director wanted to cast another actor, Jeremy Sisto, in the role that ultimately went to Prinze.
Prinze said, “It was hard to get the job done every day. I suffered every single day on that movie. But it prepared me for this business in a way. It was pretty scary.
“I’ll forever be grateful to Jim for being such an asshole because I’ve never met one since… no other director I’ve ever met thought that crossing those lines would be OK. I was prepared for every minor asshole in the industry.”
I am sure this time it will be a better experience for the actor. The film is directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Revenge, someone big). He also co-wrote the screenplay with My Friend Sam Lansky from a draft of Leah McKendrick (scrambled). Neal Moritz returns as producer.
Sony Pictures will release the film in theaters on July 18, 2025.
