The Joy of Anya Taylor (The Queen’s Gambit, Furiosa) will star in a new series on Netflix, an adaptation of Beautiful Mackie best-selling novel, How to Kill Your Family.
Taylor-Joy will play the role of murderer Grace Bernard, who has a complicated family. “Her father is Simon Artemis; a billionaire and a ruthless social climber.
“It’s the product of a relationship he claims not to remember, and Grace and her mother were left to fend for themselves. When her mother dies and she is rejected by the very people who are supposed to love her, Grace turns her anger into something useful: killing this estranged extended family through morbidly creative means.
“Grace is on a path to revenge and a rich inheritance, but her mission only pushes her further away from what she truly needs.”
Taylor-Joy said: “As soon as I turned the last page, I knew I had to help bring this story to life. Having (slightly) shadowed the inimitable Bella Mackie, I couldn’t be more excited to collaborate with the team of Sally, Lizzie and Emma. I can’t wait to get our hands even more dirty.”
Mackie added: “It’s been exciting to see the characters I’ve written come to life under this wonderful creative team. Anya is the perfect fit to play Grace: I often feel like she understands her better than I do.
“Collaborating with Sid Gentle was a joy and introducing myself to Emma gave me great confidence that the book was in safe hands.”
How to Kill Your Family is produced by Netflix and Sid Gentle Films Ltd (Killing Eve). Emma Moran (Extraordinary) is the head writer and executive producer, with Joy Taylor also executive producer together with Sally Woodward kind, Lizzie Rusbridger AND Lea MorrisMackie serves as co-executive producer.
The series will be eight episodes and it looks like another fantastic project for Taylor-Joy. It’s going to be a crazy and interesting series.
