Footage from an unproduced reboot of the family horror series has surfaced Are you afraid of the dark?
This version of the series was developed by the director Jared Pelletierwhich states that “this video was shot years ago, when the IP was in the process of rebooting.”
While he was working on it, the studio Nickelodeon gave the green light to a “lighter version” of the series, so this dark version of the show was scrapped, which is a shame because it seemed like it would have been much better than the one released.
Pelletier explained that “this version took a darker approach, typical of the ’90s, when shows like Goosebumps were absolutely not afraid to scare kids.”
The original series Are You Afraid of the Dark? aired on Nickelodeon from 1992 to 1996, with another reboot airing from 2019 to 2022.
This is all we’ll see of what was shot for the show. It’s a shame this isn’t the version that got the green light.
