There was a mandate to make Superman “as hot as possible” in MY ADVENTURES WITH SUPERMAN

While we wait My Adventures with Superman Returning to Adult Swim for season two, the creative team behind the series is talking about character designs and how there was a mandate to make Clark Kent aka Superman as “hot as possible.”

During an interview with CB, co-producer Josie Campbell and co-executive producers Jake Wyatt AND Brendan Clogher was asked if there was a mandate to make Clark attractive.

Wyatt responded, “Why wouldn’t there be? There’s actually a mandate to make everyone as sexy as possible, but especially Clark.

“Early in the shoot, when we were reviewing the animation, we sent the note to the mirror that Clark has big, beautiful Disney Princess eyes. That’s right, Clark is a space princess and she must always be treated as such. Yes, Clark must always be handsome.”

So, this gives you some insight into how the creative team is approaching this series. I can’t help but laugh as if there are people walking around talking about how hot the cartoon Clark Kent is… there probably are, though.

My Adventures with Superman is a “serialized coming-of-age story centered on twenty-somethings Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Jimmy Olsen as they discover who they are, together.”

In this new season, “the three best friends face a series of new threats. Powerful enemies will emerge from Clark’s alien past, Amanda Waller will target Superman, Lois will grapple with the future, and Jimmy Olsen will spend an incredible amount of money.

“Krypton is coming for our young heroes, and its arrival will test their strength, loyalty and love like never before.”

The series is the protagonist Jack Quaid as Superman/Clark Kent, Alice Lee as Lois Lane, and Ishmel Sahid like Jimmy Olsen’s voice.

Sam Register serves as executive producer. Jake Wyatt AND Brendan Clogher serve as co-executive producers and showrunners. Josie Campbell serves as co-producer.

The second season of the series will debut on Adult Swim with two consecutive episodes, followed by a new episode every Saturday. New episodes will also stream Sundays on Max.

The series comes from Warner Bros. Animation and will premiere Saturday, May 25 at midnight ET/PT on Adult Swim.
