Legendary CEO Offers DUNE: MESSIAH Status Update – “I Don’t See Why Not”

Denis Villeneuve’S Duna: second part it’s a great success with audiences and fans! The reviews are strong and the film is making money. Given the way the film ended, it certainly seemed like the director was confident he could make it happen Duna: Messiah.

Legendary entertainment CEO Josh Grode has now explored the possibility of a third film and says the studio is ready to proceed with the next Dune film once Villeneuve reads the script. He told CNBC:

“I think this is a movie where you know word of mouth will carry it forward. It’s a wonderful piece of cinema. There’s no other way to put it. I’m almost out of adjectives. We need to have all creative stakeholders aligned and supporting the vision. I think everyone is very excited and really enjoying this moment, as is Denis [Villeneuve] he can write the script well and feels like he can deliver another experience on par with the one we just completed, so I don’t see why not.

The director said he is almost finished with the script for the sequel, but has no plans to do so anytime soon. Villeneuve then wants to make a different kind of movie and take a break from Dune, which makes sense.

He said Duna: Messiah is “being written right now. The script is almost done but it’s not finished. It will take some time… There is the dream of making a third film… this one. I don’t know exactly when I will return to Arrakis. I might take a detour first just to get away from the sun. For my sanity I could do something in between, but my dream would be to go to this planet I love one last time.”

The director had previously discussed his plans for a third film, saying: “There’s the second Dune book, The Messiah of Dune, from which an extraordinary film could be born. I always thought there could be a trilogy; later, we’ll see. They are years of work; I can’t imagine going any further.”

So, chances are we’ll see Duna: Messiah comes to fruition, but it won’t happen anytime soon.
