Peacock has released a new trailer for the upcoming film sequel, Megamind vs. The Catastrophe Syndicatewhich also mentions the film’s spin-off series, Megamind Rules!. The film and series arrive as sequel stories to the 2010 film Megamindwhich featured a stellar cast that included Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Tina Fey, Ben Stiller, David Cross, AND Justin Theroux. None of these stars have returned for these upcoming projects and the characters are instead voiced Keith Ferguson as Megamind, Laura Posta as Roxanne Ritchi, Josh Brener as Ol’Cum, Maya Aoki Tuttle as Keiko Morita, Emily Tunon as Lady Doppler, Talon Warburton as Lord Nighty-Knight, Scott Adit in the role of Pierre Pressure, Chris Sullivan, Tony HaleAND Adam Lambert.
The synopsis for the film, which will be released first, reads:
Megamind is back and more heroic than ever! The new movie, Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate and the all-new Megamind Rules series! is streaming March 1st! The second film will follow Megamind as he navigates life as a hero, faces a young apprentice crime fighter, and battles a new evil: his former group, the Doom Syndicate.
The first movie wasn’t bad. It was cute at the time, but it wasn’t what my kids kept coming back to. So it’s pretty strange that this is the franchise that Peacock is trying to hang its hat on. I understand going back to a hugely successful film from the past that people loved and responded to for a long period of time, but I don’t think that’s the case. And the trailer is pretty lackluster. I don’t think this movie or series will really take off, but maybe there’s an audience out there that I’m not aware of. Check out the trailer for yourself below and watch Megamind vs. The Catastrophe Syndicate as well as Megamind Rules! on Peacock March 1.
