HBO is developing a limited series based on the novel Dark places Of Gillian Flynnthe same author behind it Gone girl AND Sharp objects. Flynn will serve as co-creator, writer and co-showrunner on the project Brett Johnson. Guerrin Gardner he is also credited as co-creator and writer.
In the story: “Libby Day was seven years old when her mother and two sisters were murdered in the infamous 1985 ‘Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas.’ She survived and testified that her teenage brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, a mother/daughter true crime “detective” duo locates an adult Libby and questions details about her, believing Ben to be innocent. Libby, having spent her youth working the talk show circuit, hopes to once again profit from her tragic story: she will reconnect with the players from that night and report her findings about her, for a fee. As Libby’s search takes her from the seedy strip clubs of Missouri to the abandoned tourist traps of Oklahoma, the unimaginable truth emerges and Libby finds herself right back where she started: on the run from a killer.
It sounds like a crazy story that will make the series interesting. It’s definitely the kind of story that’s right for HBO. There is no doubt that it will attract some famous actors to star in the series because it is the kind of project that will have some big roles.
