Netflix’s Blue-eyed samurai was one of my favorite shows of 2023. This show is really good, and if you haven’t seen it yet, it’s worth checking out! Don’t watch it with children, though! This series is ultraviolent and there is a fair amount of nudity. It tells a great revenge story, though, and features a really badass main character.
The series has already been renewed for a second season, but there is a long-term plan for the show that includes four seasons and a movie. In a recent interview with Screen Rant, the creators Amber Noizumi AND Michele Verde (Logan, Blade Runner 2049) confirmed these plans by stating that they are also looking at possible spin-offs.
Noizumi said: “We have many stories in our hearts, which we are just waiting to realize. We need everyone to watch it, starting November 3, and then there will be a second season.” Green added: “Yes, which we have.
Green went on to explain, “It’s tracked. Season 2 has an approved outline. Deep in our hearts we want to tell at least three, four seasons. We know the end of this story. We would like to continue. We know about the spin-off…” Noizumi chimed in, “A spin-off series, where Ringo…” and then Green interrupted Noizum and said, “We know exactly where he’s going to end up in the future. We’re just hoping that audiences for the original content show up and need more storytelling.”
The series centers on an Edo period samurai in Japan seeking revenge. It is described as a “provocative and visually stunning film series” that “immerses the viewer in a world of vivid adult animation with a live-action twist. Set in Edo period Japan, Blue-eyed samurai follows Mizu (voiced by Maya Erskine), a mixed-race sword master who lives a life in disguise seeking the release of vengeance.
Blue-eyed samurai will feature an impressive voice cast that includes Giorgio Takei, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Masi Oka, Randall Park, Darren BarnettAND Brenda Song.
When the project was first announced, the creators Michele Verde AND Amber Noizumi shared in a statement, “Our story is an extraordinary action adventure that takes place 400 years ago, but the themes of Blue Eye Samurai are timely and the inspiration is deeply personal. We are grateful for Netflix’s passion for this story and for their bold vision of a sophisticated animated drama.”
If you look Blue-eyed samuraiWhat are your thoughts on the plan the creators have for the show?
