The writer of BATMAN RETURNS didn’t like Tim Burton’s 1989 BATMAN

Tim Burtonis the 1989 film Batman is considered one of the greatest superhero films of all time by many fans. I remember seeing the movie at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood when I was a kid, and I loved every second of it! I still love the movie!

But not everyone is a fan. Burton’s The Return of Batman screenwriter, Daniele Acque, explains that he doesn’t like the film. He recently spoke to IndieWire and said that 1989 Batman “it sucks.”

Then, in a separate interview with World of Reel, Waters went on to explain why he didn’t like it and said that Burton also didn’t like the film. He said:

“[Tim Burton] he wasn’t crazy about Batman. And I wasn’t even crazy about it. He had great set design and everything, but I didn’t like the movie… That scene where Jack [Nicholson’s] climbing the stairs to listen to… Prince’s song, spray painting art is the height of anti-entertainment.

Waters also hinted at his original plans The Return of Batman they were. He revealed that the film was originally going to open with a Batman logo, only to reveal an in-universe store selling Batman merchandise, a joke that undermines how great the original Batman film’s merchandising juggernaut was.

Fortunately, Michael Keaton convinced him to cut the scene from the film, saying: “[Michael] Keaton said, “This is very clever.” Cut.'”

As a Burton fan Batman, it’s strange to hear someone say they don’t like it. I know not everyone likes it, but most people seem to be fans of the movie and I’ve never met anyone who didn’t like the movie.
