Here’s a fun trailer for an 80’s throwback action movie called The last Kumite. The trailer is complete with training and fight sequences along with classic 80s-inspired montage music.
“One last kumite, one last battle: for the life of his daughter.” The film is described as an “action-packed, old-school martial arts fight film in the style of 80s and 90s classics like Bloodsport, Kickboxer and No Retreat, No Surrender. It follows Michael Rivers, a skilled martial artist, forced to fight in an illegal fighting tournament to save his daughter. During his journey he discovers that other martial artists have also been forced to fight to save their loved ones.
The film comes from the director Ross W. Clarkson and is described as “a new take on the tournament film inspired by the likes of Bloodsport, Kickboxer and No Retreat No Surrender.” The film stars a newcomer Mathis Landwehr as Michael in the lead role, along with Cynthia Rothrock, Michel Qissi, Matthias Hues, Richard Norton, Kurt McKinney, Billy Blanks, Abdel Qissi, David YeungAND David Kurzhal. Original Bloody sport AND Kickboxers Composer Paul Hertzog also came out of retirement to score the film.
The film was financed with support from Kickstarter and Indiegogo. Capelight Pictures will debut The last Kumite in early 2024.
