Neve Campbell shares her thoughts on SCREAM VI after recently watching it for the first time

Neve Campbell he finally looked Scream VI, the horror film in which she refused to reprise her role because the studio wasn’t willing to pay her what she was worth. Regardless, she holds no ill will towards the franchise and she wants to see it succeed. She said in an interview with Deadline:

“I watched it until two weeks ago. It took me a minute, I don’t know why. I actually thought they did a really good job. I think the cast is made up of really powerful, wonderful actors.

“I don’t wish these movies any bad intentions. I wanted the movie to be good. It’s not like I’m sitting in my house thinking, ‘I hope it sucks, I hope it’s not good.’ I care about all the people involved, there is someone at the top who only thinks about money and that is his prerogative.”

When previously talking about why he chose not to return Scream VIshe explained:

“I didn’t think that what I was being offered equaled the value that I bring to this franchise, and have brought to this franchise, for 25 years, and as a woman in this industry, I think it’s really important for us to be valued and to strive to be appreciated.

“I honestly don’t believe that if I were a man and I had made five installments of a huge blockbuster franchise in 25 years, the number that would have been offered to me would have been the same number that would have been offered to a man. And in my soul, I don’t I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t walk on set feeling undervalued and feeling the injustice, or lack of fairness, around that.

Campbell isn’t expected to return in Scream VII, but it’s still early enough in development for anything to be possible. Plus, with Melissa Barrera’s firing, whatever was planned will now have to be completely reworked. The main thing to get Campbell back, though, is that the studio will have to pay her what she’s worth.
