Jon Hamm is set to star in and produce a new action series titled American hostage, which is based on the hit podcast that Hamm was also a part of. Producer Shawn Ryan (SWAT, The night agent) is developing the series.
The project is described as a “psychological thriller that tells the harrowing true story of Fred Heckman, a beloved Indianapolis radio reporter who finds himself in the midst of a life-and-death crisis when the kidnapper, Tony Kiritsis, asks to be interviewed. on his popular radio news show.
Hamm will reprise his podcast role as Heckman in the series. The show was written by Crazy dogs writers Ryan AND Eileen Myers before the writers’ strike. It is explained that Ryan “envisions the series as an anthology, focusing on a different hostage case each season.”
It looks like it’s going to be a great series and the perfect project for Hamm to be a part of. Hamm really needs and deserves a bigger role, and this seems to be what he needs.
