While that of Studio Ghibli The boy and the heron was marketed as Hayao Miyazakiit’s the last film, that’s not actually the cast. Miyazaki has already made it clear that he will not retire and now he has a new project that he has started working on.
Producer of Studio Ghibli Toshio Suzuki recently shared this information with the French newspaper Liberationsaying he has given up trying to stop Miyazaki from making another film:
“He thinks about this new project every day, I can’t stop him anymore, I’ve given up on it. I no longer try to dissuade him, even if it could be a bad film. In life only work enchants him.”
We continued by saying:
“We talked again today before. He started talking about this new project, so I won’t stop him anymore. As long as he works I won’t retire. He’s 82 years old, I think he’ll continue until he’s 90” old and I’ll accompany him for the trip. “
You know, if working on these films makes Miyazaki happy, then that’s great! Hell, Clint Eastwood he’s still making movies and he’s 93! I love that Miyazaki is so passionate about his work and making these beautiful animated films. It will be interesting to see what his next project will be.
