We have a first photo and some new details about it Ke Huy Quanof the character from Marvel’s upcoming second season Loki. The Disney+ series continues the story of Loki, the god of mischief, played by Tom Hiddlestonand his new friends, Owen Wilsonit’s Mobius, and Sofia Di MartinoSylvie, as they investigate the mysterious Time Variance Authority, uncovering dark secrets along the way.
Oscar winner Quan (The Goonies, Everything everywhere and everything at once) assumes the role of TVA technology expert OB.
The new season sees Loki and Mobius delve into the deepest bowels of the TVA, seeking the help of Quan’s eccentric repairman. OB works in the repair and advancement department, and his basement office is filled with a vast jumble of gadgets and gizmos.
Loki executive producer Kevin Wright tells EW:
“His job is basically every piece of technology, every computer, every thing that works at TVA. Either he designed it, or he fixes it and keeps it running.”
Wright told EW that it was famed Marvel casting director Sarah Halley Finn who first suggested Quan for the role in Loki, after attending an early screening of his award-winning comeback film, Everything Everywhere All at Once. It was April and Everything Everywhere was about to open across the country, so Marvel was quick to make Quan an offer immediately, knowing his schedule was about to fill up. Wright explained:
“I think Kevin Feige called maybe April 12, just to pick up and say, ‘Please, please do this,’” Wright says, laughing. “Little did we know, Ke is apparently already a big Marvel fan and was a big fan of Loki season 1.”
EW spoke with Quan in August 2022, soon after his role as Loki was first revealed at Disney’s D23 Expo. Coming off stage, the stunned actor admitted that he had kept the role a secret even from his family.
“I’ve been fantasizing about this for many, many years, ever since the first Iron Man came out. I’ve seen all the movies in the theater. I’ve seen all the movies. I’m constantly watching on YouTube like These fans are passionate and enthusiastic. So being on the stage today with Sophia, Tom, Owen and Kevin and to be on the receiving end of it all… it was just incredible.”
We’re as excited to have Quan as part of the Marvel family as he is to be a part of it! Season 2 of Loki will premiere October 6 on Disney+.
