The beloved hit series SpongeBob SquarePants it has over three hundred episodes in its library. While most of them are lighthearted and funny, two of them have acquired a bad reputation over the years, resulting in them being pulled from syndication and streaming. One of the episodes was titled “Kwarantined Crab” and its storyline felt insensitive within the COVID-19 pandemic. The other episode, titled “Mid-Life Crustacean” (season 3 episode 15) was pulled for a different reason.
In 2018, the episode was taken out of television rotation because it contained “certain story elements [that] they weren’t suitable for children” after the overhaul. It was available to stream after being dropped from television rotation, but then in 2021 it was removed altogether.
The episode synopsis reads: “Mr. Krabs realizes he’s getting old. He’s not that trendy anymore. He overhears Patrick and SpongeBob planning a big night out and thinks it would be a good way to get back into fashion. He asks the boys if he can come with them on their wild night on the town. They make Mr. Krabs (?) have fun… They hit the laundromat, pick up trash under the highway and stop at a kids amusement restaurant. Mr. Krabs realizes that younger or not, they are no more hip than he is. He tries to leave, but Patrick convinces him to go to their last big event of the night: a panty raid. They’re finally up to something interesting… until Mr. Krabs realizes they’ve broken into his mother’s house. He is sent to bed without supper. At least that makes him feel young again.
Damn! Now you can check out the episode for yourself on Paramount+.
