When Harrison Ford he was first introduced with the Indiana Jones costume he would wear Steven Spielberg AND George Luke’ Raiders of the Lost Arkhe was very confused. As you know, the costume included a leather jacket, a whip and a felt hat that Ford had to hold on to his head during production so it wouldn’t fly off during the action scenes. Seriously, Ford told GQ during an interview that he still has the basic scars.

Ford shared his reaction to seeing the costume for the first time, saying:

“It was introduced to me as an aspect of the character in the first film. My questions about it were many. Why do I wear a leather jacket in the jungle? Isn’t it hot in here? Why do I wear a whip? What do I do with a f-king whip? Am I going to whip people?

It was explained to Ford by Spielberg and Lucas that the outfit was “an evocation of yesteryear” and “a reflection of the movies past”. That was all Ford needed to hear, he didn’t question the explanation, so he put on the costume and the rest is cinematic history!

I’ve always loved that Indiana Jones look! It was just such a tough badass look and I would wear that outfit every day if it was socially acceptable. I only wear it now when I embark on my crazy adventures. Seriously though, as a kid I just wanted to be Indiana Jones. This might just be one of my all-time favorite movie costumes.
