Director Christopher McCarrie he found himself in the position of acting with fantastic big budget films as a writer, director and producer, and enjoyed the success. He also has a great partner with Tom Cruise and the two talents make damn great movies together!
The two have had huge success with Top Gun: nonconformist and now they’re back to do more Mission Impossible movie with Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning part one AND Second part. A movie like Top Gun: nonconformist it’s a tough act to follow, but they’ve actually managed to pull off something special with the upcoming Mission Impossible movie!
Regardless, McQuarrie is terrified Showdown and after that he doesn’t want to let the franchise down maverick AND Mission: Impossible – Fallout. He explained in a recent interview with Total Film:
“I don’t take my position for granted. I don’t take audience participation for granted. When we were making Top Gun: Maverick, I didn’t assume that people loved that movie or that it was a 35-year-old cultural institution. I looked at it with a very suspicious and cynical eye towards Hollywood’s tendency to make it a money grab.
“So, all I do is constantly check myself in and remind myself that no matter what you did before, this is what you’re doing now. I’m terrified of the outcome of Dead Reckoning, living in the shadow of Fallout, living in the shadow of Rogue [Nation]and Ghost [Protocol], and all the other films that preceded it. I don’t want to let the franchise down. I’m more scared now than I was on my first Mission.”
Well, having seen the movie before, I’ll tell you it delivers the epic grandeur fans have come to expect from the franchise. In fact, it’s the best film in the franchise and, in my opinion, a perfectly crafted action thriller.
McQuarrie and Cruise did it! I don’t think they have anything to worry about as they are setting the standard for making great blockbuster movies. Marvel Studios and DC Studios should take note if they want their franchisees to survive.
I would be more concerned about the next films in the series because they have raised the bar to a whole new crazy level The showdown starts first!
