Benedict Cumberbatch teases Doctor Strange’s return to the MCU next year

After Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessit shouldn’t be a surprise that Benedict Cumberbatch he’s not done with the role of Doctor Strange. Now the actor is teasing his return to the MCU in a new film next year.

Cumberbatch recently said while guesting on the JW3 speaker series, “There are some Marvel capers in the making next year.” Marvel Studios hasn’t announced a new Doctor Strange movie, so it’s likely that whatever it’s doing will be for another Marvel movie in development.

Some of the Marvel movies he could appear in include Captain America: Brave New World, Lightning, Lama, Deadpool 3, Avengers: Kang DynastyAND Fantastic Four. These are movies coming out in 2024 and 2025.

Strange’s next adventure was teased at the end of Multiverse of madness in a post-credit scene where Charlize Theron introduces herself as a character named Clea and tells Doctor Strange that she “caused an incursion and we’re going to fix it.” When Clea asks Strange if she’s scared, he says, “Not at all.”

Multiverse of madness writer Michael Waldron he previously teased Strange’s future in the MCU in an interview, saying, “We knew we wanted to introduce Clea. She is Strange’s great love in the comics and it seemed to me that Strange wasn’t at the point at the beginning of our film where he was ready to meet the love of his life. It felt like we should come full circle with him and Christine Palmer. And so after she gave him her wisdom to not be afraid to love someone, then it just felt right to tease what could ultimately happen with him and Clea.

I like the character of Doctor Strange and I’m curious to see what’s in store for him in the future of the MCU. What would you like to see from Doctor Strange as his story arc continues to unfold?
